Stand to End Rape Initiative (STER) is a youth-led not-for-profit organization advancing sexual reproductive health rights (SHRH), advocating against gender-based violence and providing medical, legal and psychological support to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria. We also work with communities in generating homegrown solutions to the issues of gender-based violence within communities. Our belief is that an enlightened community will see the need to end rape and victim blaming once and for all. Our goal is to create a society where women and men, girls and boys no longer have to live in fear of rape and all forms of sexual violence.With over 200 volunteers, a network of national and international partnerships and a physical presence in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, STER Initiative is poised to cause a tremor in the pre-existing rape culture. Our focus is on sexual violence as a whole and rape specifically. As such, while raising awareness on rape and its causes, we also educate the people about other sexual and gender-based violations such as child sexual abuse, female genital mutilation (FGM), domestic violence, early/child marriage, sexual harassment and defilement etc.
